Sedgwick county kansas goes with ATI.

Wed Feb 08, 2012 5:45 pm

I was looking at this today and even though ASC came in low bidder, they still chose ATI for the siren upgrade. More proof that ATI management can pull a vacuum on an onion sack.

http://www.sedgwickcounty.org/purchasin ... 102011.pdf

Says that 153 of the old sirens will be kept in place, 8 new ones will be installed, and 15 sirens will be deleted. The ATI model they are using is the Viper 3200.

At least most of the old sirens will remain. They will need them to take up the slack from those new POS's they are installing.

ATI does have the advantage in a few areas according to that document, but you would still think they would want to consider initial project cost as well.

The advantages I can see:
New siren costs (cheap sirens, so much cheaper here)
Cost of poles (smaller lightweight sirens, so they can go with smaller poles?)
Project completion time
Long-term maintenance & support costs

Yeah, but ASC still came in way below ATI. Plus, an 8 speaker ATI weighs about the same as a 128.

Does anyone know what the Viper 3200 looks like, is it omnidirectional?

Why does it cost almost 36,000 for training? You hit a button the siren goes off, if it doesn't you call them back up and say come fix your junk

Where ASC shot themselves in the foot:
That $85,000 yearly fee when;
It was specified in the proposal that reoccurring fees would not be accepted.
However, that CDL electric was not that much more than ATI, used Whelen Sirens, and doesn't look like a bad option.

Same. It would be neat though if it were along the lines of that rotating siren they came out with in the past. Despite its lack of performance it looked pretty menacing .

I think the viper 3200 is just that big 8 speaker omni that ATI has, which is also a 3200.
