The CLM Still Works Fine

Mon Sep 03, 2012 4:37 pm

The local museum is puting on a "cold War" display for their next exibition, and one of the staff wants me to bring in the big CLM siren so they can have it in the display. I brought it in from the farm Saturday evening, and hooked it up at the shop yesterday. We did a couple of "tests" to make sure it still works. It has been sitting outside for 12 years, but started right up. Ran it long enough to blow most of the dust out but ended up taking the back horn off to clean the chopper out properly.

I left it inside the shop last night, and at 8:03 this morning, one of the "guys" fired it up as my morning wake up call. The house is just over a mile from work, and it sounded like an emergency vehiicle a few blocks away. (that is with all the doors and windows closed). Last time we fired it up (Jan. 1-2000: Ring In the New Millenium) the neighbours at the farm heard it at over 2 miles away.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for connections in the CLM 92672CR Contol Box??? The wiring harness was all removed from the units when I got them, and there seems to be a lot more connections on the relays than I can account for. It looks like there were things connected to the secondary contactors of the main relays.

Thanks
What on earth are you going to do with THAT?

Nice to see another CLM owner! Is it a single or 3 phase unit? Do you have any photos?

It is 3 phase, 220 volt, so it will run on some of the plugs at work. I don't have any digital photos, but can take a few when I go to the shop. Not sure how to post pictures on line though. (I guess that puts me in the 'dinosaur' category??)

The one control box I don?t have. I have a 550V 3 Phase box all wired which would give you a good idea I guess for yours. It was wired when I got it but I don't know to much about 3 Phase power so I can't answer any questions about it, maybe another board member.

For photos you have to upload them to a photo sharing site like Photobucket or Flickr. Then take the direct link and paste it into the area you write replies or make posts. You have to insert the IMG button on both sides of the link.

You should get a video of it running! There still isn't a full video of a CLM running on its own power!
