My Whelen 4004 and 2750

Tue Nov 27, 2012 5:41 am

Hi, Everyone

I have been asked to a lot about when I acquired both of them. First off I got the idea of getting of another siren in my collection because I don't have controls for my Federal Signal Sth-10. So I saw post here on by john from fulton communications about he had some 4004 he wanted to get rid of. I contacted him got arrangements about getting the siren. I asked Rick if he would be able to pick it up for me because he was going to be his bandshee. Then rick brought it home for me on oct 20th. I have found out more about the 4004 by Whelen due to I was having issue with the controller not running right. I have sent the esc-864 module to whelen to see if everything is running correctly The 4004 was built for the city of Oakbrook Terrance IL. The 4004 was manufactored in 1992. Now to the 2750. I was starting to think I was going to be able to get 4004 to run right so one I contacted john seeing if he had anything new in his yard for sale. he said that he has two 2750 with controls. so I hopped right on this because I wanted another whelen. I haven't done a long test yet with it do to the time frame of our counties testing schedule right now. below is pictures of both sirens

How many 4004s does John have!?
I personally want one despite the size only because, they're fascinating to me. I'd never go "full jaiwl-barh thundabolt" over one though.

I'd look stupid doing it.
Imagine a 6 foot tall toothpick skinny teenager doing that over a finback vortex...
Actually if that was a finback vortex I'd be going triple jailbar thunderbolt on that!

Oakbrook Terrace I believe only has one siren. This 4004 was replaced a few years ago by a T-128. Did he say where the 2750 came from?
