I was searching for siren videos on YouTube when I came across a video of a Ford Transit van with roof-mount locomotive horns. It's extremely loud!

A class 37 loco, the type of horns fitted to the van. A single horn blast, not both tones at 45 seconds, but some nice class 37 thrash which sets off car alarms in the station car park.thats the effect i was after, especialy at rail road crossings when people decide to walk across the train tracks instead of using the bridge provided, F**KING HILARIOUS to see them sh*t their pants.
I second that.thewoog34 wrote:I've been a huge train horn enthusiast LONG before I even cared about sirens. My favorite horn is the RS3L - just listen to its powerful and commanding tone.

Personally, I think North American train horns are far better than any other train horns in the world. They're much louder and can be arranged into a variety of unique chords while the majority of countries just use single-tone horns.
The vast majority of UK trains use Nathan Airchime horns, just arranged in a single-tone configurations. When arranged in chords they sound like this. Nowhere near as good as Leslie horns but still pretty good.Don't Panic! wrote:I second that.thewoog34 wrote:I've been a huge train horn enthusiast LONG before I even cared about sirens. A very impressive sound from the horns on that truck.
