There's also a Sterling mounted not too far away.

Here's a relatively low Whelen atop a grocery-store-turned-maintenance-building on the campus of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA.

On my map. (Check Street View from Sweetbriar Drive to see the siren this replaced.)

Not the lowest mounted siren in the US, but here is a fairly low mounted Whelen in Columbus, Ohio that is not far from an inactive Thunderbolt 1000AT: http://goo.gl/maps/BlqtW. For those who want to know "where is the Thunderbolt?", here it is: http://goo.gl/maps/o7Tdn.

The lowest mounted siren I've seen is a federal thunderbolt 1000T at the UW WhiteWater campus. It's sitting on a small hill and its fenced in with barbed wire.

When did you see that? I thought Whitewater only had STH-10s, and I've seen one near the west edge of campus.

It's off of Schwager Drive on the NW side of the campus, seen here. It's also a Series B (offset rotator), equipped with a newer Federal Controller so it's definitely on the system. Whitewater also has five Federal STH-10s (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), one W.S. Darley STH-10 on city hall, and a Federal Model 5 (painted a dark green color) north of the Thunderbolt on North Tratt Street.

When was that pic taken of the thunderbolt? About two weeks ago I went past it when I helped move my girlfriend in for her second year the Tbolt is a lot closer to the road than that pic and its not on a pole at all either

Well, I guess we know what they used to have!

Here is a 2nd Gen. 2001-SRN in Richwood, KY. It is hard to make it out on Google Maps, but it is there.
