Dexter Township got some Whelens.

Sun Oct 13, 2013 2:26 pm

I was driving down North Territorial road, and I saw 4 Whelen WPS-2910s along a 15 mile stretch. http://twp-dexter.org/boards/psac/repor ... ren_Insert
Apparently 16 of them were installed around the area.

I love it when towns go with Whelen. Good sirens.
• Severe Weather (As determined by Washtenaw County Protocol)
• Hazardous Materials Accidents
• Homeland Security Emergencies
What signals are they planning on using? I can't open the link in the PDF.
Also are they mounted on metal poles? I can't tell by the image.

Ha, I just noticed in their flyer about the new sirens that the WPS-2910 pictured is a photo that Raymond (woodyrr) took of one of Norman, OK's new sirens, located at Brookhaven Park (that's his car in the photo). I guess they have good taste when it comes to finding pictures, though I almost feel as though they should give Raymond some kind of credit for the photo. Though in their defense, they may not have known who actually took the original photo.

Was this post really necessary? I hate to break it to you, but Whelen is on top of their game and makes some of the best electronic outdoor warning sirens on the market today, so they're not going anywhere anytime soon.

From now on, do not post on a topic unless you have something constructive to add to the conversation. Thank you!

Oh this is old news from last year :-).

Here's a video of one being installed:

As I established in my thread on electronic sirens, Whelen is certainly the best electronic siren manufacturer active today. Everything....the array design, the driver, the electronics, the amps...everything is designed for outdoor warning and made right here in the USA. No other electronic siren manufacturer can claim that right now. And in the words of the late Steve Jobs, "BOY have [they] patented it!"

2012 in the link. I am going derp right now.
Whelens are great sirens. I've talked to some people close to the EMAs in my area. They basically told me that the Whelen sirens function better their older systems, like in Ft. Benning and Phenix City; they preform way better than the old/new 2001s.

So are there any videos of their sirens going off out there?

Glad to see a town/city has chosen a reliable company to use for a public warning system. Much better than the alternatives they could of chosen from
