xT22 horns and bearings

Wed Oct 30, 2013 1:48 am

My 3T22A I brought home yesterday has a few bent up horns. What's the best way to straighten them out? Also, from what I could spin with a nail poking through the screen, I'm going to need new bearings. Does anyone know where I can find bearings? Note: neither picture shows the bent horns in question, I'll have to take some more when I have time.

Tear it down and see what bearing numbers it has on the bearings. You can get them online at most bearing supply houses or locally.

Also, the marathon motors like your siren has have bearing retainers on them. They bolt through the endbell and you need to remove the screws before you try to take the motor apart. When you pull the rotor and the stator, look for two flathead screws about 1-2 inches from the motor shaft. Remove them all the way.

Looks like fun! I'm working on a 3T22A as well, except mine is all in pieces now.

Looking at the Marathon motor I got from Arcon, has only one bearing retainer that bolts to the endbell from the inside on one side only. there's also shaft spacers to locate the rotors on each end that the single phase motor doesn't possess...
