3T22A restoration progress

Yeah, it looks good from a distance, but like I said, the finish is a bit rough. But that might be Ok since I am using a different paint than most people use. It's made for the outdoors.

So what are your plans for the siren unit when it is all done?

I'd like to sell it to a city who is on a tighter budget or a city who would favor a refurbished unit over spending more $ on a new siren. I don't want to become a siren junkyard, so I am just going one unit at a time. I'm going to either look into doing another 3T after this or convince my city to let me repaint their Thunderbolt 1003 that is still used regularly and runs off an FC.

Actually the siren repainting that goes on with the siren board members is WAAAAYYYYY more involved than how Federal originally painted them.
Federal just took them when they were all assembled and blasted them with paint. There wasn't much painting of parts before the siren was assembled if any.

Well no Duh? Its pretty obvious to notice that when you see a small bit of over spray on some of the blades on the rotors... He is just saying that it looks like new, no need to over think things.

I compliment the siren forum members saying they do a better job painting sirens than Federal did when they were new and I get a "Well no Duh" kiddie reply like this....

Maybe if you would word your complements to sound more encouraging rather than flipping Sioux Notification's statement making him sound like an idiot when he is not? There comes a time when it sometimes takes more common sense v.s quick thinking because it can really set people off. Think about that for a couple minutes if you need to. :think:

Who is the kiddie on here, not quite sure, but its certainly not me, might be the person who thinks they are the siren expert. I would be more than happy to show you plenty of examples on here, and you may have seen them already. I hate being this way, but when trolls run through my topics, things go downhill fast.

What are you smoking? Eric Green is one of the most respected veteran posters on this board and was restoring sirens, rebuilding units, studying their mechanisms, and giving us knowledge while you were still young enough to not even know such a thing as a siren existed. Eric introduced us to the first recording of an ACA Hurricane, did one of the first operational T-Bolt restorations for a community (for Valley View, TX in particular), restored a T-Bolt for the Reagan Presidential Museum, is one of the most valued civil defense collectors in his field, and runs one of the most respected civil defense websites on the internet. I think speaking down on him and his extensive knowledge is unbefitting of someone like yourself, young and inexperienced as you are.

What Eric said was a rote statement of fact and was saying we do more work on sirens than Federal did. Its a complement to collectors' work and care. He was in no way implying or calling Sioux an idiot. Starting a post with "well duh" is rude, condescending, and highly disrespectful (even if you did feel offended).

So I don't know what side of the bed you woke up on today, but I suggest you try another side tomorrow morning and show a little respect for someone as deeply ingrained into the siren community and the civil defense community as Eric. That being said, I say you take your own advice, think about common sense vs. quick thinking, and understand how terribly rude and condensing you are being. And quit trolling your own topic with a totally irrational outburst.

I'm glad uncommonsense has chimed in here. Eric was one of the first members on this board to completely restore a Thunderbolt and photographically document every step. I'm pretty sure he was also the first member of this board to refurbish a siren for a municipality. He is also super nice and helpful in person, helping me get my siren restoration underway. I would think twice about what you post on the internet about someone you don't even know...
