I was visiting my father-in-law at his art gallery in Provincetown last week, and wondered what had happened to the model 5 on Town Hall.

About 10 years ago, I did report a San Jose CA CD/OES SD-10 that was leaning towards a creek & some kind of public facility shed. They removed & scrapped it, it had not been used since 1989. Being on a metal pole, it would do some damage if it fell over.

Yes, that guy in Provincetown could have been killed by that Model 5.

My goodness. That was a bad thing to happen. It would have got his adrenaline going. The Gentlemen was very very lucky to miss being hit by the siren.

I was thinking the same thing. It would take a pretty strong gale to blow an actual Model 5 off a roof.

The article says it was a WWII siren, then a FD siren, so it was turned off years ago, when other sirens replaced it. The FD serviced it.

I'm surprised more haven't fallen. I can't count how many sirens I've seen on poles or platforms that the mounts have rusted away. Last year a nearby fire station had it's model 2 cover blown off during a storm but it was repaired.
