Re: Surry Power Station hunt, round 2, 12/26/13

My guess for the top box is some sort of SCADA monitoring for the plant. Those installs look exactly like the ones at Cook Nuclear, but instead of the top box, ours have a separate white box further down on the pole.

Pretty sure I told him this! When we lived in VA my father and I used to play golf at the Deer Run course. I remember passing that Sentry and always thought it looked goofy with the two different sized horns.

Whoops! Sorry about that...seems like I mixed you two up.

Speaking of Surry Sentrys, I found Street View evidence of one in Williamsburg recently. It's another 10V2T, that was replaced by a 2906. Today the pole is the only remaining vestige.

Brendan Ahern wrote:Is it possible that the top number is the actual siren number, and the bottom number is a zone number for localized activation? Interesting nonetheless. I would also like to know what the top box is. You don't see that too often. Any techs on the board ever work on these in the field?

Top box in most are use for more radio units/ Just give you more room for stuff.... Photo is a Demo unit I rebuilt with "top" box..

Unfortunately, I don't, but I'll stop by and get some for you during my next hunt.
