My new Siren - Model A

Sun Jan 05, 2014 1:29 pm

I picked this Model A siren up for $40. It looks horrible but it works. I'm going to restore it in the Spring so the appearance doesn't matter. I will update this thread once I start working on it.

Was this on EBay? I saw one tree hat looked like that and I had a vague thought on catching it. Nice catch!

No. I found it at a salvage/deconstruction shop. He originally wanted $65 for it but I negotiated the price down to $40. I shouldn't have much difficulty restoring it, It looks like an easy siren to restore.

I finally got to restoring my Model A siren a couple days ago. This is what it looks like right now. I have to get down to the hardware store and buy new hardware for it.
You can't really tell in the picture but the motor and rotor are gloss grey.

I'm looking for an ID plate for it.(Federal Sign and Signal) If anyone anyone has a spare please pm me! Thanks!!
