Siren Hunt 1-20-14

Tue Jan 21, 2014 2:36 am

The first siren I went to the Willow Park 2001-AC siren.

The next siren I went to was the McGucken Park 2001-AC siren.

The third siren I went to was the Monte Vedra Road 2001-AC siren. I took this photo from Green Cove Road because it can be seen from there this time of year.

The fourth siren I went to was the 2001-SRNB siren at Fire Station 14.

The fifth siren I went to was the Meadowbrook Drive Thunderbeam siren.

The sixth siren I went to was the Martin Road and Whitesburg Drive 2001-AC siren. This used to be known as the Fern Bell Park 2001-AC, but Whitesburg K-8 is being rebuilt and they tore out Fern Bell Park in the process. The siren can be seen standing among the piles of dirt next to the old Fern Bell Park sign.

All mounted on metal towers. They just look like radio antenna towers, are they rated to hold that much weight?

Those 2001 mounts are interesting, There's a Tbolt (that me and TrainsandSirens1 recorded) in Silverstreet, SC that's mounted on a tower exactly like those 2001s are...

I was thinking the same thing. Any particular reason for using them instead of a metal or wooden pole?

Oh Alabama... famous for their 2001's lol. We have a lot of 2001's in fact way too many we need some 508's or T-128's up in here.
My knowledge excels on the Federal Thunderbolt siren and SiraTone EOWS sirens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Madison County removed the motor for supposed repairs after the motor seized over a year ago. I guess they decided to go ahead and replace it.
