Is the Fedelcode heard in this video a Model 5 or 7?

Sat Feb 15, 2014 6:52 pm

It was taken down a few years back, but I know it was either a Fedelcode Model 5 or 7. It was located on a small tower behind the old fire station in Purcellville, Virginia. There is also another siren in Purcellville on West Main St, on top of a building across from N 21st St. I cannot determine what type of siren the one on W Main/N 21st St is, but it looks like a red Decot or something. Could someone go there to look at it? It was still there last I knew.

That siren doesn't even sound like a Fedelcode to me. I think it is something else like a single head sterling.

I saw the siren while it was still up, and it was obviously a Fedelcode Model 5/7. It was painted light brown/tan, and was taken down after the fire department moved down the street and stopped using it.

No, I do not. The only thing you would be able to find it on that I know of i street view. The long-gone siren is still there on the image. The address is 200 N. Maple Ave, Purcellville, Virginia.

It is a Fedelcode Model 5, well at least it LOOKED like a Fedelcode Model 5.. but soundwise that is a siren at the very end of it's life cycle. There has to be some amazing arcing going on in that motor cause it isn't even spinning close to rated rpm (thus why it is so gravely and low pitched). Where is Jeb at when I need him??!! LOL

I have an input on what it might be.

The Model 5/7 guess is likely correct, though an older 8 port model. The odd undertone/growly noise may be from shot bearings. It sounds to be 3 phase.

This is just my guess. Members with more extensive knowledge feel free to chime in.
