I wish Texas would do a state wide drill.

Wow, Kansas has almost always held SWAW and the Statewide Tornado Drill on the 2nd Tuesday of March, in conjunction with Missouri. Quite surprised of the change. It appears as tho I'm off that day! I wonder what I should record...hmm. Might have to make a trip somewhere else (besides Shawnee County).

Due to scheduling conflicts, freezing temperatures, and conflicts in getting a waiver from the FCC, the State of Missouri and NWS offices located in Missouri have rescheduled their Tornado Drill to Thursday, March 6th at 1:30p. This DOES include Kansas counties covered by NWS offices in Missouri. It includes the following Kansas counties: Atchison, Bourbon, Cherokee, Crawford, Doniphan, Johnson, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami and Wyandotte.

Schedules??!!?? Freezing?!?!? Conflicts???!!!??? come on Missery, is that the excuse's your going to use. ;)
I was between Wichita and Cheney, today, on MacArthur Rd. while the drill was taking place...the temps. were at or slightly below freezing at that time...did'nt slow the NWS office in Wichita down one bit....Could not hear any sirens over the noise of the diesel truck that I was driving and the wind blowing thru the open windows in the cab ( I tried to listen for a siren, at least) ...also could not see any sirens...was in a semi rural area at the time.

Someone should try recording sirens in Manhattan for the drill, turns out they have an Allertor, SD-10, T-1000, Model 5, Modulator, 2T22, and many 2001-DCs and Whelen WPS 2810s.

Manhattan (Riley Co.) tested today @ 1:30 p.m ...not effected by the state of Missouri's decision to NOT test that effects counties in Kansas that border the state of Missouri....would probably be easier to get a recording when the next Tornado warning happens  ( they are good for 3 or 4 in season)
I'll have to pay closer attention when I am in Manhattan as to where the sirens are at...did'nt know they had such a variety.
