Did they do any damage to anything?
Did they not just use some jumper wires.

I would do such a prank as long as it caused no damage.

A friend told me that in Osaka, Japan, during the U.S. Military occupation after WWII, they had a device on base which sounded at 12:00 and 16:00, SIR! (That's Noon and 4 p.m. to all us dummies.)

The timer had a swinging pendulum which had a sharp point on the end which dipped into a small pool of mercury. Each pass would close a circuit and relays would count the swings.

The siren had three horizontal exponential horns covering 360 degrees.
10 hp three-phase motor. Sounded at 400 Hz.

At 02:00, he heard the compressor start.
He ran to the building to disarm the alarm, but knew he could not get to it in time. His partner, also involved with the timekeeping device, also showed up out of breath.

Fortunately, the prankster did not know how to set the other timer to open the valve.

Anyways, I'm not so sure that it would be going back into service so soon. The damage that was potentially caused by the pranksters could be severe, and may take a while to fix.

What, do you consider a god what they did from Initial-D The Movie? "A god is a normal person that can do things normal people can't" Well I'm just a normal person after all. But all they'd have to do really is get a new control box for it. And that isn't that hard is it?

I've never heard of that movie, but that is some weird theology. If you meet one of these gods, ask him to make me a Porsche.

So does anyone know where the heck this siren is? I have been trying to find it for a long time... The fire chief at the hammond fire station says it's not in the basement and they need a siren for that particular area. So has it been put up already or where the heck is it?

Perhaps the Clatsop County EM manager might also contact Trojan for more Thunderbolts, like those that are rotting away on their poles in Longview and Kalama, Washington.

I know this is like a billion year later reply but Trojan and PGE do not own the thunderbolts in those cities. And they haven't for a long time either, actually since the plant shut down. I had the PDF copy and I sent it to them as they requested. Longview had a board meeting where they declared them all surplus items and actually 2 of the 7 thunderbolts came down and were sold to private parties for $200. Both whelens and the model 2 stand at the time of this reply. Both the PDF copy and the Addresses the sirens all sat at were on a computer that got taken from me. i could maybe find them in a message somewhere (because i seem to remember sending the addresses to siren fan in Washington.)

No problem. This thing just like... vanished! No sign of it anywhere... Even astoria said they had no idea of a siren coming from OSU... Oh well if I find the thing i will update this thread.

I check all around the harbor and bridge area in Astoria and didn't see if anywhere, time for an off topic rave... I can't believe that the Astoria-Megler Bridge is a non-toll bridge!! Here in the East that would easily be a $10 toll if not more, heck the Annapolis Bay Bridge in Md is not even half that size and it is like $6 or so.
