First one is an early (1930s?) Federal Electric Type B, also known as the "Federal Fire Siren" or "Lion" which comes from the old advertisements Federal had out at the time, claiming it "roared like a lion". The second siren is W.S. Darley Company's re-branded Sentry F2 siren, catalog number R828.iaphonehawk wrote:Couple more I can't positively identify

This one is obviously a Darley of some type, but I've yet to locate a picture of it to id it. Zooming in, you can clearly read W.H. Darley on the tag, but I can't make out a model number.
Thanks!
How can you tell? It kind of looks like a siren to me.TurbopropPilot wrote:That is a vent.
I think they could be hidden in the bottom if it's a siren. Do you think it could have been a siren at one point and they took the guts out?TurbopropPilot wrote:Well, I see no guts in the vent/chimney.
No. It was always a vent.Allenorgan42099 wrote:I think they could be hidden in the bottom if it's a siren. Do you think it could have been a siren at one point and they took the guts out?TurbopropPilot wrote:Well, I see no guts in the vent/chimney.
