Because that is the weakest part of the HPSA. You can get lots of leverage if you try to lift it by the Hybrid Injection molded fiberglass. It's strong and light but you don't want to try and lift the pole and the rotor by the flare. We put that on to make sure idiots don't try it, basically.

Yup, the poles are grounded as they should be we don't skimp out on the installs!

I Have seen some shoddy installs where the used a loop of wire buried at the bottom of the pole instead of a rod. I have seen the effects of Lightning on the amplifier and Battery charger. The best installs will include an lightning rod at the top of the pole and the HPSA creating a zone of protection.

That install looks awesome I would love to see it sometime, trouble is I don't get to the field that often.

Really Nice work.

Surprised the city hasn't put up some nice heavy concrete bollards around the base of those. Would be cheaper than replacing the Vortexes yet again when the drunks run them down, but then again we wouldn't get to see the cool pictures of the new ones going up if they did.

I have all the parts.... the wind needs to knock it off so I can get up in the lift.
