Sadly, the current administration in Lenawee County, wants to develop their Code Red emergency notification system, rather than pouring money into new outdoor warning sirens. They feel that Code Red is faster, and ideally suited for the SmartPhone generation on the go; henceforth, providing the next generation of "Severe Weather Alerts and High Speed Community Notifications." Personally, I'll take outdoor warning sirens, and my NOAA Weather Radio over a telephone notification system.

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.

Albion, MI has a T-bolt 1003. It is at the public saftey department.
My other ride is a 1950 Chrysler-Bell Victory siren.

That is sad, I remember reading once that Lenawee County was one of three original counties to have a county wide siren system. I thing Oakland and Genessee were the other two.

Agree with you completely on sirens and NOAA radios. IMO sirens are NOAA radios are the fastest and most reliable way of notification. Both in tandem do a good job.

When I get the sirens are obsolete line from someone I'll always ask them why sirens are still used on emergency vehicles. Then I point out the fire department still uses old technology pumping water on a fire and that cops still use bullets.

Sometimes old school works for a reason. :D
