High mounted sirens in the US

Actually I think that's a Model 3. The bottom and top louver are too close together to be a Model 5.

This Allertor in Philomont, VA is pretty high-mounted. The flagpole/cell tower in the background is 100 feet and I think the siren pole is about 60 or 70 feet. It is more than twice as tall as the building and replaced a slightly shorter pole.

Don't remember who took this photo, but this Thunderbolt in Hamilton County OH (I think) appears to be high mounted, it looks like (NOT MY PHOTO). Credit to whomever took it. If it actually isnt high mounted after all, the blower at the very least counts.

It's funny, I was actually talking about this siren on a totally unrelated note earlier today. It's an old 1000 in Fort Worth, TX, that's since been removed. Photo credit to Eric Green at civildefensemuseum.com



Definitely one of the tallest Thunderbolts I've seen and right in my neck of the woods.

I ventured down to New Freedom today in lower York County, Pa and photographed their Federal 2T22.... it is just a little high off the ground. The pole has a nice lean starting near the top, I don't recall ever seeing a wooden pole this tall before. The siren looks pretty small up there!

The model 2's in Albion, IN are mounted fairly high up. (The one in the 3rd link was replaced by a T-128)

The highest mounted siren that I know of in Huntsville is the 2001-SRN at Jones Valley Elementary School.

Dang...Ive seen some high sirens (not like that) but this is really high for being a 2001. Let alone any siren pole mounted. Ive noticed the poles that hold sirens up are frequent thought the city.
