Bozrah, CT Fire Siren

Sat Nov 08, 2014 11:26 pm

As we all know or should suspect Whelens are quite common in Ct (I can't spell the name of the state so you are getting abbrivations LOL), sometimes though you see something different that just blows your mind. Have a look at this fine example from the Bozrah, CT Fire Department, it would appear that they bought a 2016 and stacked 2 of the stacks on top of each other instead of having them on 4 points... or maybe is something else all together. Either way it is different!

Interesting setup. I remember one time I drove past a firehouse in Connecticut that had a Whelen of some sort, an XT22 and a Model 5/7. I can't for the life of me remember exactly where that was and I'll be dammed if I can find it, but maybe someone on here knows where I'm talking about. My guess was that the Whelen replaced the XT22, which in turn replaced the Model 5/7.

Just when I think I've seen everything in this state. They've had that siren for a while now. It use to be set up like every other WS 2016 out there, but looks like recently they configured it like that, probably to keep the peace with the neighbors. I'll have to make a trip out there to see it for myself real soon, and maybe grab a recording, if they do a daily test.

Is there any significance in the directions in the path of the arrays vs not in the path?

This photo of the fire siren looks very similar to the air raid sirens used all over Israel.
