Cheapest & simplest phase protector for 3 phase siren?

Tue Nov 11, 2014 9:04 am

Hey guys, I am rewiring a RCM1A and I would like to integrate a phase protector so if one of the legs drops while the siren is running it won't destroy the blower motor. I have found this time mark model that looks like it will work. I know how to hook it up, I would just like to know if this unit will work best, and how to adjust the sensitivity if i do install it. Here is the unit I am looking at:

I will be completely tearing out anything and everything to do with the Agastat, so there will be a perfect spot right in the middle of the RCM. If this unit will work, we will probably buy two more and put one on the Allertor and one on the STL-10. Plus, I like how this one automatically resets, that will be very handy. Thanks, Cruz.

I don't really see what is the point of putting one of these on a siren and why are you "tearing out" everything to do with the agastat?
What is the total running time of a siren per month and what are the odds of the loss of one phase during the very short time?
I don't see how that would make it worth installing.

I am getting rid of the agastat and rewiring everything so that the FC runs it. Jeb has put in several phase protectors in his video's and he explained that they can be very useful. It may not nessisarily happen when the siren is running; it could be broken for days, and if the siren starts, that's when It could destroy the motor.

I use Shneider Electric GV2 motor circuit breakers to protect my Castle Castings sirens from a loss of a phase.

Symcom makes simple motor savers that are variable voltage, we install them in pump panels mostly for irrigation and oil wells. Along with the line sensor, it has a com/no/nc terminal in it. Super easy to hook up.

I stopped putting them on sirens due to the fact that the less components you have the less there is to go wrong.
