Yes. There's evidence of it out there.
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

Yes, the whole thing is on a big turn-table. They creeped along at a slow 1 RPM, but how fast can you move that much weight anyway?! There aren't really any videos of one, because they were't really something of big interest. Most don't rotate as of now because they are either stuck or broken.

There's one in the city of Greenville, South Carolina that's practically a giant wind vane now.

They seemed about an octave higher in pitch than in other recordings.
