Gresham, Oregon Fire Siren

Wed Mar 25, 2015 3:34 am

I heard somewhere on the forums (I think Daniel said it) that there was a model 5 at the Gresham Fire Department. Do you guys have any info on it? (Location of the FD, present location of the siren, etc.) It is paramount to me that I know this, because this would be a close-to-home location to video. (I know it is probably not there but I could still call the FD or mail them or e-mail them you get the point and ask.)

3 things: 1: There are maybe 4 people on here from the PNW. You, Me, Puget and Daniel. (I apologize if I missed anyone.) I don't think (But I could be wrong... Again sorry if I am wrong...) that anyone besides us 4 are going to know that. 2: Buddy... I STRONGLY suggest street view and then calling the FD and asking if they still have it. If you don't see it on google maps then chances are it's been removed a LONG time ago. (Waldports thunderbolts are still on the map and they are long gone.) Then when you call the FD if they say anything about not knowing what you are talking about then it's gone. 3: From what I remember in a conversation between Daniel and I is that he didn't think it was still there... (That or I read something wrong. I will let him chime in on that one.)

The Gresham siren was removed several years ago, as was the Model 5 and the Denver siren in Hillsboro.

Now they COULD still be in the station in storage... I mean... Worth a try right? Well here is the problem I run into with that... (And I am just using this as an example. Not trying to bump this off topic.) The Thunderbolt siren that is SOMEWHERE in the Astoria OR area that was removed from OSU is either in storage or on a pole somewhere... I have heard of it being in so many places or have gotten the reaction of "What are you talking about? Siren? Square horn? What? OSU? Huh?" I heard from someone that it was on a pole somewhere but she has lied to me before. My point is... I have chased that thing for a long time. And that wasn't even all that long ago. I encourage you to try but I would say to be prepared for those reactions.

It was on the tower of the downtown fire station. The only known siren in the Portland metro area is the single-head Sterling in West Linn.

There is a Whelen WPS-2808 in Portland's Albina Railyard. JoJoes123 Sirens posted a video about it but he is suspended due to copyright issues.

Also, I have some news about the T-Bolt. I think I may have narrowed down the search to make it easier. We should try looking around Fort Stevens. They might have it there or in a museum or something (I doubt the last one about the museum). If I find it, I will definitely post a topic about it.

Maybe you'll find that massive Sterling M10 that Warrenton once used.

Called them about it when you told me about it and they were like "Wha? A siren? I have no idea what you are talking about."
