An interesting replacement

Mon Aug 03, 2015 1:01 pm

Hello, I am new on the board. I am French and can be the first one, no?
Today, on Google Maps, I found an interesting fire station. As you can see, their main siren is an EOWS 1212, but behind the station, there is an EOWS 612 and a Federal Signal Thunderbeam. I wonder if these sirens died.

Here's the maps link : https://www.google.com/maps/@35.061159, ... 56!6m1!1e1

First off, welcome to the board!

Secondly, that is an interesting find. I assume they may be planning to install them in other areas and are storing them there temporarily?

If I remember correctly the 612 had issues, and was their only siren in town until Norman replaced their old system and the City of Washington purchased what was left over from Norman's original system (several T-128s, two Thunderbeams, three SD-10s, and a 2T22) to reinstall across the county. I have no idea where the 1212 came from though since they didn't have that one the last time we were there. I know that they installed a few of the T-128s they got, and they were looking into putting up the Thunderbeams the last time any of us talked to them. I don't know if they were ever able to get everything they needed to install at least the one other Thunderbeam yet or not.
