ACA Hurricane Horn Question

Sorry but to add another part to this: I think mister matt (videogamer) owns a blower less one? It's a fiberglass round horn. And for a 2 chopper siren I am guessing the square horn design wouldn't work as well as a siren that just has 1... Especially with the way the round horn is divided in the middle. Just seems more effective for 2 choppers in my opinion.

Hi guys. Yes I was selling it because times were tough but I figured in a few years when I'm done with school I'll finally have the money and time to fix it up right. The head is still taken apart, down in Pinckneyville, IL at a family business. The blower is, and has been at a motor shop for years. I've just been too busy to go and pick it up. Here's a recent photo


As far as the whole round horn, square horn thing, square horns were just a prototype. Before investing in machined patterns ACA made fabricated patterns and molds and changed them often. The horn was square because the mold was welded together 1/8" sheet steel sides that were step formed to the exponential curve. Then they were coated in fiberglass.

Once you've refurbished it, you have GOT TO test it! Good Job acquiring it :thup:

Is the square horn smaller than the round horn? Or is it the same size?

There're about the same size I'm pretty sure but very different in shape obviously.

It's got the blower, just no motor for it.

I heard the square horn wasn't as good as the round horn at projecting sound. Is this true?

For the hurricane yes. Oh yea Videogamer I remember now... And it costs a lot to get a new one.
