It won't make a difference for the most part. People hear the sound vs seeing the individual sirens. A better way of doing it is to use different signals, alert, fast wail, attack, etc. or, albeit ineffective depending on the models already installed, have a setup of high and low pitch sirens if both parties want to use the same signal. If the towns have 2001s and the plant uses uses something like Equinoxes/508s, Whelens, Tempests, etc. both could use alert and there would be a distinguishable difference in the sound being produced. With that being said if this town is all 2001 now, they may have swapped to using attack, but unless someone calls their FD and asks or records their system we'll never know.siren fan wrote:Seems like it would be a good idea to paint the nuclear sirens a different color to differentiate them from the cities outdoor warning system.....

The old Fort Calhoun NGS system used to be comprised of older dual-toned ACA P-10s in a "baby blue" color, but they finally replaced all of the remaining P-10s in that system with 2001-130s a couple of years ago. All of the old sirens in the City of Blair's system were also very recently replaced with 2001-130s, so now it's probably almost impossible to differentiate the two systems from each other since they both run alert to my knowledge.
As far as the old sirens go, there was a Darley Model 3 at Rhoades Park a little bit north of these two 2001s that was replaced by a 2001-130 in the same spot, a really old 3T22 in the downtown area that I really don't know if it was replaced or not, and they had two Thunderbolt 1000s (both Series C). One of the Thunderbolts was on the southern end by the ball field on Hwy 75 near the YMCA, and the other was on the north end at the cemetery on Jackson Street. I know that the Thunderbolt at the ball field was replaced with a 130 recently, but I'm not sure if they did the same with the one at the cemetery yet.
