Hello. New to the board.

Tue Dec 08, 2015 9:47 pm

I came across this board as I was doing a search for some parts for our Fed Mod 2 siren we have active at our fire station. It seems the brush for this model is now discontinued and the only recommended fix is to buy a whole new motor. Is this the case for everyone? Our siren has been down for about 2 weeks now and we are getting a lot of complaints and questions in regards to when we will have it back up and running. (Yes, you read that right, our community is complaining it is NOT working). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the board! That's interesting, when you called Federal Signal's parts line did you refer to part #8247A020? I was able to order new brushes from them about three years ago. I'm surprised that they would discontinue that item completely as it appears the 2001-130 shares the same style brush for the collector ring assembly as well.

Here's a link to the Model 2 manual found in the Siren Manuals sticky, just in case it comes in handy for part numbers.
