The Manitoba Siren Map

Mon Dec 28, 2015 1:29 am

Hey everyone. I have finally decided to create a map for warning sirens in Manitoba! So far, the list consists of 14 sirens, and I will add to the list as I find new sirens (next mission: Find the curfew siren in Churchill!). Some noteworthy sirens include the CLM rotating air raid siren in Dauphin, the 2001-130s in Winkler and Altona, and the mystery siren in Boissevaine. Other than that, the map is comprised of Model 5/7s and Canadian Model 2s. Enjoy!

Alternatively, if you want a streetview-friendly version, you can download the KMZ file for Google Earth here:

Portage La Prairie had a an old CD system of two CLMs and one 2T as of a few years ago. I found the old article and doing streetview I think they have recently been removed.

WOW! Thanks so much!

Also, it appears the CLM at 17th Street is still there as of October 2015, and the Model 2 on Phoebe Street is still there as of August 2014. I do think the post office CLM is gone. Dang it, now I REALLY want that Model 2. The only challenge would be getting it off that pole...

That 2T doesn't seem to high up and it has a nice platform, shouldn't be that hard or expensive to remove. You can put up some scaffolding, hire a tree climber or a small bucket truck.

I'm looking at the CLM in Dauphin. Is it still there?
