Lion King's "Defender" Up Close Video Found

Sat Jan 16, 2016 2:04 pm

I have found an up close video of the Defender siren made by Lion King. So, it is not just a CAD picture after all.

That thing sounds like it packs a punch! Is there a DB rating?

In the description of the video it says 138DB @100 feet
I wouldn't count on it being an accurate decibel level without seeing an actual meter taking a reading

Given the size of the siren and certain things about the video (how people reacted, how the *camera* reacted), I'd actually not be surprised if it genuinely was in the 135dB-plus range. Whether it hits the advertised 138dB, I don't know, but it's certainly up into the rarefied territory of the P-50 and the various Chryslers.

Of course, just looking at it, the proportions make it pretty clear that they're using a disc-type chopper instead of a cylindrical chopper, so it's likely just a clone of the old Chrysler, and damned well SHOULD be putting out close to 138dB!

Now, we just need to find someone willing to call them up and ask how much it'd cost to sell one to a collector in the States... XD

Isn't 138 DB's the same as the Chrysler?

It does indeed pack a punch, but seeing all the smoke coming out of the engine exhaust makes me cringe.

I think it is closer to 136DB, not actually 138.

It smokes because it's a diesel engine that is having too much fuel injected or not getting enough air into the combustion chamber.

Specs on the Lion King Signal website says 130dB at 35m (~115 feet).
Federal Signal Model 2-240, Thunderbolt 1000AT, 3T22A
Federal Sign and Signal Model A
Federal Electric Type B

That design is still absolutely ridiculous in appearance.

I agree and in today's day and age a giant siren like this and the Chrysler are not practical IMO like in all seriousness who would buy a siren that huge when smaller sirens do just as well?
