Rescued another AF Timer

Tue Jan 26, 2016 1:53 am

One of my buddies that I graduated with works for the Lake Crystal, MN Municipal Power Plant. Him and his co-workers were cleaning the basement of the shop out when he ran across this AF timer that was in mint condition. He was instructed to toss it, but thankfully called me up immediately and asked if I wanted it. It is in "like new" conditions so I'm sure it will work just fine.

New Old Stock? :\
I didn't know AF timers came new from Federal with DYMO tape labels all over the front panel. ;)

Anyway. Decent score! I never ceases to amaze me what people say to throw away.

Those labels are classic! If that timer was mine I wouldn't touch them!

Yeah they recently restored and reinstalled a 3T22 that was moved from the other side of town. They installed a new FC with a new motor starter, and didn't even bother to connect the damper solenoids up because they knew it would never sound high low. I am wondering if some point in this AF's life if it served as the timer for that siren. Either that, or a citywide activation point as per the DYMO labels. I'm just beyond happy it's in my possession and that I got it for nothing. They are many AR Timers out there, but the AF Timers are becoming hard to find. I am also wondering if this happens to be the rare 5 minute cycle model because the label at the top says run for tornado 5 minutes. Maybe, maybe not.
What do you plan on doing with it?
At the moment I plan on keeping it along with my other AF. I might wire it up to my 3T22 sometime and make sure it works.

It's just another Alert cam. Same as my other one.

I think the standard fire cam was five cycles of attack unless otherwise specified. I used gorilla glue to seal the notches and cut new ones for the 12 sec. on /8 sec. off X 3 that I prefer.
