Philadelphia siren testing

Thu Mar 03, 2016 4:02 am

Hi everyone,

I live in the Philly area and have seen the few Federal Signal 2001-SRN sirens around the city (I don't know the parts of the city well but I know it's near CHOP and the refineries).

I was doing some research on the sirens and apparently they belong to the Grays Ferry Power Plant and that they test the first Saturday of every month. Since the first Saturday of this month is in a few days I was thinking about trying to get a video of one of these. Has anyone ever heard them go off for the tests before that live near Philly? And is anyone planning on watching it as well? (By going from the lack of test videos on YouTube I'm going to guess no)

This will also be my first siren recording and perhaps my first time hearing a real large scale siren in person in a full cycle (with the exception of an HOR Siro-Drone.

i would recommend getting in contact with the Emergency Management Association and ask them a few questions regarding the system
