The Cosgrave/Codewell was a coding siren. I believe, though I'm not certain, that the three rotors would pop up into the stators while the motor was running and would drop down when power was removed, giving an instant cutoff like a Japanese damper siren but more effective.

Wasn't it said that the Crosgrave goes off every day at 11:55 for a test and that the controller was recently updated?

Here is the Cosgrave in street view.
I own: One complete SiraTone, another SiraTone control module, a 1600W MC, 2 old ATI controllers, 2 round ATI horns with drivers, a ATI-DSA 4 thing, a Federal Signal FC, AR timer and Siratrol, and a small CD&F.

Yes, the Cosgrave. In a blog, a woman said she knows when its lunchtime because the town "test its siren every morning at 11:50 A.M.".

I wish i did so much... and I know that there are a few members that live in the Phoenix area and we drove to Jerome from Phoenix on our trip so I think some people are in the proximity.

Many towns used to sound their noon siren a little early to avoid overpowering church bells.

With that big-shot restoration that was done on that thing wonder why the bolts are rusty now..... ;)
Uh. Just looked again and that plate might not have rust on it. I think that's leaking gear reducer oil..... :(
The weather bell (that's what I call it) is still shiny so I guess it paid-off for Rick to drag his buddy onto the show to polish that stupid thing.
Yeah you figured they would at least have used stainless steel hardware since they were "professionals".
