I'd agree, that's a lot of rows of ports. That'd be a very complex design for such a small siren.

Perhaps the actual siren is inside?

Well, those screens make me start to think that its just a vent?

It had me april fooled for a while, but it is only a vent. The screen is on the inside, rendering a chopper useless as the screen would put too much space between chopper and stator.

That's the exact oposite of what I said. Read posts before yours. I was saying, perhaps the actual siren assembly is inside the screened housing?

That's the exact opposite of what I said. Read posts before yours. I was saying, perhaps the actual siren assembly is inside the screened housing?
I mean, there would be a chopper visible if it was a siren :/

It might be, but when I zoomed in to the "ports" there was no sign of a siren assembly of any sort inside. If there really was, perhaps we need to go there and take an up close photo as Google Streetview isn't the best in photo quality.

Someone should go there and stick their finger inside to try and spin the rotor. If there is no rotor, then smell your finger.

I hate to bust everyone's bubbles, but that cone-shaped projection is not a siren. It appears to be a sewer vent of some sort.
The siren located here was undoubtedly a 500T per the Los Angeles air raid sirens list. All of Los Angeles' 500Ts were installed and grouped into a mass between Number 096 and Number 165. Since this location was Number 136, I sincerely doubt it was any other type of siren. It was located on a traffic island (raised concrete divider between roadway lanes for pedestrians to rest at), probably not far from where that sewer vent turned up. Someone assumed the sewer vent was the actual siren and went with that instead.

Hello everyone ,

I just recently purchased a fire hall that was no longer in service. This siren came with the property and I am looking for any information you guys might have.

I have gotten a few phone calls from other fire companies looking to purchase the siren but I have no idea what its value is. I don't want to over charge but I also want to get a fair price for it. Any help would be awesome!

Thanks Jason
