Two New Whelens in Lewisville, TX

Tue Apr 05, 2016 3:55 pm

Lewisville has started adding more sirens to their system to fill in coverage gaps back in early March. I noticed the first new location go in on the south end of the landfill on F.M. 3040 and S. Railroad St. since I drive through this intersection at least twice a week. There aren't any good places to park near this location so I was limited to taking pictures from the car.

After checking Lewisville's updated map I noticed that they also added another location by the High School.

I later came across an article about the new installations, apparently they may be getting some more of these next year.

Looks like they're planning on running these for the first time during tomorrow's monthly test.

Great find! I'm planning on recording another of Tyler's Mods in a few minutes. Hopefully I'll nab a dual tone.

Wow. Those new controllers look rather small compared to some of the others I've seen.

Yeah, they are kinda small. To me they appeared to be the same size as the other type I cabinets on the rest of the Vortex-R sirens, but it's been awhile since I've seen another type I enclosure up close in person so I could be wrong.

I'm glad to see the R4 go in at LHS. From day one this area was always in a gap in the system.

On a side note, Flower Mound has added at least 2 T-128's in recent months. They are quite a bit lower than their original installs, but serve the new areas well. One unit on Garden Ridge fills in a gap they've had very nicely.

Looks very similar to the Garland installations, minus the VisuAlert.
