Beaver Dam Siren Replacement.

Tue Jun 21, 2016 4:59 pm

Earlier today I received a tip from MKE Elevators that Beaver Dam's last SD-10 was replaced. Initially I had thought they bought another 2001-130 - I was quite surprised to see a 508 standing next to the SD-10. It has not been wired up yet and even retains a cardboard sleeve where the electric meter will go. There also appeared to be a spider inside the horn.

I will probably try recording the 508 once it's hooked up and ready to go. I've never seen one in person until today. They're rather big compared to the 2001-130, if only because of the huge gaping horn. It really does look like a modernized 500A although it might reminds one of a large eyeball instead.

It's a shame to see the SD-10 go but it was on its last limbs. The lower pitched 508 will be more adept at handling the hills it's located in.

Nice pics and my actual username on YouTube is "WI Sirens and Elevators" and Tyler Copeland originally told me about this new 508 which he found out by somebody who also lives in Beaver Dam.

Perhaps try to grab one last recording of the SD-10 before the cords are cut.
I own: One complete SiraTone, another SiraTone control module, a 1600W MC, 2 old ATI controllers, 2 round ATI horns with drivers, a ATI-DSA 4 thing, a Federal Signal FC, AR timer and Siratrol, and a small CD&F.

Thanks for the update - I'm not sure when this siren will be hooked up although I would presume it should be within a week or two.

Years ago I did record the SD-10, although I'm not certain if it's still hooked up. I'll probably wait for the 508's completion since I haven't recorded a 508 before.
