Nuclear Power Plant Sirens In The UK.

Tue Aug 30, 2016 2:31 pm

I live in England, where sirens are sparse (except flood sirens, but there a bit boring :P), and was wondering what kind of sirens are around the plentiful nuclear plants. I was wondering if anyone would have test dates too?

Thanks :)

I live in England, too, and it seems that there are various plants which have Federal DSAs, Modulators and ASC sirens around their perimeters. Army bases have them, too, for nuclear ships or plains that may spill out radioactive substances, like Portsmouth, historic dockyard. (they test 3 times a year)

I live in East Anglia - I think there's a Power Station in Felixstowe or somewhere near there, but I don't know the name

The long dead Windscale uranium plant may still have them, since it won't be radioactively neutral for a long time to come.

On a side note, many chemical plants around the south east have either Klaxon electronic or mechanical sirens around them, some Wheelen and Federal products are mixed in too.
