Model 5 Decibels at 1 ft

Around 170-200 decibels i would assume. It would definitely mean complete destruction of your hearing without hearing protection.

It's definitely not going to be comfortable. I've had my Model 3 going full bore and I was pretty much next to it, and it definitely wasn't comfortable.

Yes I know, I wound it up more than half way on 240 and it vibrates every atom in my body!

I can attest to it being quite uncomfortable at even 12 feet away with hearing protection. Mine is quite potent while standing at the back of our lower garage where its controls are mounted; the sound makes everything in there (including my head) vibrate with the sound from it. It's pretty crazy how loud they are at close range like that for being what's considered a fairly "small" siren in terms of comparable sound output. I wish I had a good decibel meter to put in there with me just to see how loud it actually is from my vantage point while it's running.

I was guessing 140 to 150db @ 1 feet, if you assume 109db at 100 feet for the Model 5.

Uncomfortable is definitely a good description of being next to a Model 5 while it's running.
I was about 4 feet away and I think if I ran the siren for very much longer than I did in my video it would have
resulted in nausea. You can feel your insides moving around when it get's to full speed. Notice the towel on the
Thunderbolt horn blowing in the background while the Model 5 is running.

Wow you are brave. I would stand no closer than 20 feet to a running siren with hearing protection.
Also, I never realized how much air that thing moves... wow.
