My Thunderbolt 1000

Tue Nov 29, 2016 9:55 pm

Hi, as most members know this, I obtained a Thunderbolt 1000 from Brendan W on November 23, 2016.

Details:
Thunderbolt 1000 head was built (by Brendan W) from mixed Thunderbolt parts.
Thunderbolt is single phase but it has a 3 phase blower.
Blower itself is seized up and I'm not sure how I can get another blower.
Me and my father will be restoring the Thunderbolt. I hope the whole Thunderbolt project will be done by 2017.

Good luck man! I remember that the blower on mine got stuck and I was able to free it with some 3N1 oil and a 2x2 (probably not the safest or smartest plan) and she Runs fine. Also depending on where you live you might be able to get a motor from farmers. Where I live there's a lot of peanut dryers so there are a bunch of older motors that can be used. I was able to pick up a nice 7.5 HP single phase motor for $200. Just look around
Proudly own a Edwards Model E, a Federal Enterprises Model 2, a Darley Model 5, and a Thunderbolt 1003A converted to "B". Also, an ACA Hurricane.
