Re: My New Toy (formerly Tboltfan no longer owns a T-Bolt)

Mon Nov 28, 2016 1:16 am

I made some final progress on the siren today. I put the siren back together using stainless hardware on both the shroud and housing. Here is how the siren looks as of tonight. I, as promised, will take pictures of this guy in some sunlight tomorrow. Until I get the necessary components to get this siren working again, this is as far restored as it will get.

And for once a picture comes out right from my phone! Woo hoo!

Well, I have some news.

I got an email back from Federal. They said they do not sell spare parts, which is a tad bit frustrating on my end, but it's their company and their policy so I don't mind. I'll start a WTB ad for the parts I need. However if I do not find the parts I need I'll just use my 2 as static display or a conversation piece.

Well, I managed to source a field from our friend Soundmaster, and I may have a lead on some more parts. Since in the future I probably will be rooting around with the actual siren, I was knocking around the idea to repaint some of the parts like the legs, intake cone, and that ring that goes around the stator to match the siren housing. Do you all think I should or should I keep the siren as is?

I think that you should restore the siren. Paint the legs black and paint everything else a dark gray (stator, ring, chopper motor assembly, intake).

Doing pretty good so far. I have a motor starter for my siren and I am about to get an AR either this week or next week. Replacing the old 4 brush motor frame with a newer 2 brush motor frame which is coming from a Thunderbolt 1000. And I am going to buy a 3000 watt step up transformer to power my siren.
