Salem Township, IN's new STL-10

Fri Dec 16, 2016 8:17 pm

So recently, I came across a Facebook post. Salem Township Fire Department in Steuben County Indiana got a red, white and blue painted STL-10 installed in October.
Salem Township now has a tornado siren. We will be able to better alert our community when dangerous weather is coming into the area.

We would like to graciously thank the following people for donating their time, equipment and material to help us get this installed:

Steuben County REMC - Equipment and man hours
Frederick Electric - Wiring, Disconnect box and rebuilt the siren
John Day Construction & Crane Service - Equipment and man hours
G & F Construction, LLC - Equipment
Salem Fire Firefighters - Man hours
Former EMA Director, Bill Brown - Arranged for us to receive the Siren itself
Bruce Dilts - Wiring

We would like to send Steuben County REMC and extra thank you for the grants awarded over the years:

2005: Building Fund Grant $3000.00
2007: Radio Repeater Grant $2868.00
2009: 5" Water Supply Hose $1410.00
2011: Help in purchasing a new Grass Truck with Forestry Equipment for Grass Truck $1500.00
These pictures are not mine, credit to Salem Township FD and their Facebook page.

In my opinion, I think there way too many 2001's in Indiana!

Nice to see an old siren put back up. That thing will last for years to come, I'm sure!

It looks like a bunch of Solo cups taped to a dinner plate. :P

Good to see old sirens find a new home. Where was it originally?

Not sure, a former EMA director from Steuben county found it for them.

EDIT: It came from Steuben County Park in Angola, IN. Angola must've had a system older Federal sirens before their 2001's were installed.
