How do siren controllers work?

So I have been wondering for a while how siren controls work, mainly the older electronic sirens such as the siratone.
But also would like to know how other ones work as well.

(Correct me if I'm wrong) but older mechanical ones uses cam gears that controls a motor starter, which in turn controls the signals.

There was a controller called the SC (Standard Controller) which is basically a early version of the FC controller that came out in the early 90's. They weren't made for very long and not a lot of people have heard of this, but it is basically a AF / FC combined into one. It would have 5 buttons (Test, Alert, Attack, Fire, Fire). Instead of using cams and microswitches like the AF, it used a circuit board which had a small relay and fuse on it. The transformer used either 120 or 240 volt power. On the top were the radio activation components, which came in either Low band, High band, or UHF. Below is a picture of what the controller looked like.

That's actually pretty neat, I've never seen one of those before. I always thought they went from AR/AF straight to FC.

Let's not forget that there was also the siratrol assemblys which were some of the most common activation equipment made back in the day..
