They are evil because they age and become unreliable, at times to the point where they just quit working properly. Siratrols are simply obsolete.

I have a feeling the entire siren is going to be replaced because of the radio.

Ha, probably. I remember that a Thunderbolt in Grand Island was replaced with a T-128, just because the antenna on the CD&F radio was broken.
