Sauk County Siren Adventure

Tue Jun 27, 2017 12:27 am

Today for my birthday my girlfriend and I ventured to Red Arrow country to see one in action. At first we were only going to go and record one, but I ended up making it into an all day event.
The first siren we stopped at was the Red Arrow located at the Prairie Du Sac Fire Department for the Noon Whistle. To our surprise they ended up getting some sort of call while we were there. After, we went downtown to see the to see the Sentry 10V2T that will be removed int the coming days. While downtown I called up Bill Nagler of Sauk Prairie Power Equipment to see if I could stop by, but he did not pick up. So we went to Culver's and went to the Red Arrow in Sauk City when I got a call from Bill. After a 15 minute phone conversation and him apologizing for thinking that I was a telemarketer calling him he invited us over. In his shop he has tons of motors and among them a Sterling Little Giant and a Red Arrow in the works of being rebuilt. He then invited us over to his house to see the recently removed Reedsburg Federal Signal 500 and the blower to my Thunderbolt 1003. After we went back to his shop and talked for another hour. The funny thing is when I called he said he only had a little bit of time, but he kept talking to me so I kind of felt bad, but I think he had a good time talking to me. After, we also stopped by some other sirens including the ACA Allertor 125 that will also be removed in the coming days. Before you ask both the Allertor and Sentry are spoken for.
