Picher Oklahoma siren.

Sat Jul 29, 2017 3:45 am

On the way back to Texas from Kansas we drove through the deserted town of Picher Oklahoma. The town is abandoned now and maybe only 10 people at the most live there. Anyone who knows the history of Picher is that there was a mining operation there for years that caused the eventual collapse of the town. Then in 2008 and F-4 tornado vitually destroyed what was left. This siren is still on the pole next to the old fire station. Sounded it's last warning in 2008 as far as I know. Don't know if it still is in operation or not.

The town is about 98% abandoned, and there is no long any kind of local city government. This siren is most assuredly abandoned.
He died.
