I did! He said it's staying with the bar and has no plans to sell it.

All of the sirens in Wood River, Hartford, Roxana and South Roxana were all replaced a few months ago with ATI HPSS32 sirens. All of the cities mentioned here had Whelen Vortex and 4004 sirens previously. I have a couple clips of a test and a storm where they were set off. I don't know how long these sirens will last but they do have a good "bite" to them even in my house with windows closed and fan running.
I do miss hearing wind up and wind downs of the old sirens. Below is the link to an article explaining the new system that was funded by the local oil refinery.

This is a clip before the sirens were replaced with the Whelen Vortex being heard from the same location.

Vortexofmisery, had no idea you were still on here! Thanks for the information. It's funny that Wood River still has those two or 3 thunderbolts left over from the first system and just replaced the Whelens. So the refinery had Alertronics too didn't it? I suppose those are gone as well. How do the new ATIs compare to the old Vortexs?

Yep I check the site at least weekly, a longtime habit! The old sirens I couldn't really hear the closest siren inside over anything. I wonder if that particular siren had some dead drivers. The new system I can hear easily inside and when I go outside there's definitely a surprising bite to it considering the source. They did add two additional siren locations in Wood River on the east and west ends of town adding extra coverage which was nice. They haven't used any type of voice or other tones other than alert. They did test with chimes a few times the day they installed it. I am not sure about the actual refinery sirens yet.
