HORMANN siren hunt on Oahu, hawaii

I posted this on the mystery siren thread and Holler said it was 4 hornet speakers hooked up to a older generation whelen controler.

Wait, they took down the "MOOOOOOO!!!!" sirens? Anyway, that looks to be a Type III controller? I thought Hornet's used a Type I controller, wonder how they did that.

Uncommonsense- I live 1 mile away from one of these hormann sirens in kaneohe with ORIGIONAL CONTROL BOXES and they are hormann sirens, easily identiviable by their distinct sound during monthly tests. I was able to stand right under one and the hormann name is engraved into the speaker horns.

Those horns are model WS400H. The WS400H stuck on a rotator is what's sold as a Hornet.

I can't see what the advantage to installing this set up would have been over a 2804.

Hornets are sold that way, yes, but there's nothing stopping the 400H (or a Hornet) from being hooked up to a voice-capable controller (though the rotators on the Hornets aren't capable of sensing directional position, but that's for another thread). The drivers are no different. Now granted, it is odd to me that it would be hooked up to a Type III cabinet. 4 drivers, 4 amps should mean a Type II cabinet. But who knows what crazy things are going on. For all we know they bought the equipment used and jerry-rigged this.

UPDATE, I found a hormann ECN 1000 at schofield barraks with origional Hormann controls. Schofield has a entire system of white modulator 3012's with siratone controlls so it was a lucky and very unusual find!

The chance of getting new drivers is very slim. That old 2016 may have had blown drivers, so rigged this together. Maybe it was cheaper to do it this way.

bit of a bump but that is indeed an old 2016 setup. they slapped some hornet horns on it to repair it. the moo still exists.

They arent Hormanns ,they are Cooper WAVES sirens with UV controllers.

They aren't WAVES sirens either. While some of the installations there have some WAVES sirens, those bigger ones are definitely not from Cooper/Eaton, and actually nobody knows what they are. Cooper/Eaton WAVES sirens max out at 800 watts which means 8 speakers. A number of installations there have 10 and 12 speakers. The speakers themselves clamp onto the pole they're attached to, so they wouldn't be Hörmann since they use speakers that are modular. As far as sellers in the US that use these speakers go, you have Federal Signal's THOR lineup, which is for the European market and uses modular speakers like Hörmann, Alertus who's HPSA's have only been out for a few years, and SiRcom's SiBT series which has been sold to the US before according to their old website - they now have an operating branch in the US called SiRcom USA. Out of the three these sirens fit the description of the SiBT than anything else, but I have not seen an an up close shot of the arrays to see what brand they are. All of the brands that make these sirens have their logos on the sides of the arrays with the exception of a couple overseas that just have a generic looking speaker icon on them. The older WAVES and Alertus HPSAs didn't have a logo at all, but SiRcom's have always had one. One way we know they are not WAVES or Alertus sirens are by looking at the controls. The WAVES control boxes look like what you'd find on an ASC siren. Alertus sirens to my knowledge use the same controls as Telegrafia and Helin sirens in Germany, which are about the same size as the Type I Whelen controller flipped on its side. Both controllers are made from stainless. It's pretty obvious it doesn't fit the description.

Ahh I see ,also why does Cooper call it "WAVES"
