I also have never seen this and I have been here longer than anyone posting in this topic... here IS a Whelen 2000R that most people don't know about. It is at the Hartsville, Pa fire department and was part of the escape alert system for a mental health facility somewhere in the area (I am not sure which one.. probably long closed).

Now I have seen that before! Never knew what it was used for so knowing that's kinda cool.

A bit OT, but I think your Whelen here was for the Philadelphia State Hospital at Byberry. Its former location is fairly close by. Hospital was demolished in 2006 and now is home to "The Arbours at Eagle Pointe". Sorry for the tidbit of off topic stuff, but old mental hospitals, etc. are one of my interests.
