Whelen WS-1000.

Wed Dec 12, 2007 2:48 am

There is another of these sirens in the GA section of Siren Archive; it's Smyrna #2.

I moved from Cobb County(where Kennesaw and Smyrna are located) in 1989. However, I don't think either of those sirens was in place then.

The city of Smyrna has its own siren system; mostly STH-10s.

A number of years ago I did get a confirmation from someone at Whelen(the e mail or whatever has gone by the wayside) that this is definitely a Whelen siren.

The Smyrna siren is nearly invisible, because the speakers are hidden by trees as one approaches the siren on Ridge Rd. I only knew it was there when I saw the control box and happened to lookup.

I've never seen this type of siren anywhere else.

I thought there had been agreement some time ago that that picture was of a Whelen WS-1000. I could be wrong, though.
This looks like the siren with "Air Raid Monitor" in Universal Studios...

not the first, but one of whelen's first. Their real first was, as I recall, the 2000/400r sirens.

A) Wrong. 1000 was the first

B) What's up with all the unnecessarily bumped threads all of a sudden? In this case you bumped a 10 year old thread to post wrong information which wouldn't have been of substance if it had been right?

I'd suggest you read the rules about bumping topics.

Have no idea why. Just all sprung up recently with 3 topics bumped by the same person. And then more came along.

whoops, didn't read the date on this one correctly. Terribly sorry, and it won't happen again.
