Sirens at Fire Brigades around me

Gday, I not normally have outdoor siren stuff to post & this is a special occasion. I was out on my motorbike & I got photos of the Saratoga, Wyoming & East Gosford Fire Brigades & there sirens. Sadly these sirens are all inactive. Anyone know what these might be? I'm guessing there similar to Federal Signal Model 2 sirens. Wyoming Fire Brigade under the text in this post. Saratoga Fire Brigade at the bottom of this post.

Those are some nice pictures! Not very often someone gets pictures of these. These appear to be GCS branded sirens of some sort.

Well after looking around for more Fire Brigades with sirens I not discovered yet which has a siren I came across the Empire Bay Rural Fire Service. This has to be the smallest siren I have seen. I'm not sure who made it but for all I know it may have a 1HP or 2 HP motor. I am unsure of the port ratio because the mounting plate underneath it blocked a clear view of the rotor.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a Minimite "clone" fitted with a 240V or 110/115V motor, I could be wrong but it looks like more a early Klaxon SO4 minus the conical housing (chem if by any chance you have a picture of a SO4 without the housing...)

(by the way I have a feeling that this one little beast will meet its demise soon or sooner given how the rust has eaten up the mounting platform's "bracket" is.)

Of course. It might be a Klaxon or even a Carter of some kind. Our mains voltage is 240v 50~. If the mounting bracket does end up giving way, I believe the power cord will save it from a major fall since it is so small to the average outdoor siren. It also looks like at the most it weighs between 7 to 15 kilograms.

Yep, the stator's design definitely has a very close resemblence to those of the Klaxon SO4. Seems like this one is eithier a early production model or had it's motor replaced (rebuilt??) some time in it's life, maybe we'll never know.

As for the GCS-esque sirens, I have absolutely no idea, but if you somehow manage to videotape one sounding off at least we'll know how they sound like, I've seen plenty of videos about these but none of these sounding off.

I dont know if I am able to but I will try & get a video of one of the GCS sirens if they ever get tested again. Out here pagers get used these days instead of sirens. For all I know those sirens have being dormant for donkeys years. As for the one in Empire Bay I might have a chance in future because when the Fire Fighters are there, they sometimes crank that siren up. Now that I really look forward to seeing that as I am curious how loud that little siren is.
