STH-10 Help

Tue Jul 31, 2018 12:27 am

Hello, my dad recently bought a Federal Signal STH-10 siren that is 3 phase. Me and him just really don't understand how to power it on. So what is a good way to run it? also, can someone explain all the electricity and volts and all that stuff cause it's pretty confusing to me. One more thing, how do we wire it? Essentially, we're just looking for a good way to test it so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can only anwser the electricity and volts part, until I too get a 3 phase STH-10. A 3 phase STH-10 is 480 volts most likely. It probably runs at 120 Amps. Phase is obviously how much power the motor gets. If you have a questions about the electricity and volts, let me know. Also, one thing that would be helpful, it read the info on the tag. That would make it easier for me.

You would need a 3 phase power supply. That could be achieved using a generator, or going somewhere that offers 3phase, as long as it can supply enough amps/volts to power it. Can you tell us the voltage the motor is, and how many amps is draws? Id suggest messaging some of the higher-ups on the board that have experience installing sirens. Good luck.

No, 480V units are few and far between if they even existed. You are looking at a 3 Phase 240V model. The ID tag on the siren should tell you all the information you need to know about it.
My knowledge excels on the Federal Thunderbolt siren and SiraTone EOWS sirens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
